Introduction

Let me introduce myself. If you wondered why I'm writing articles about blockchain technology then you too are confused as much as I am! I thought a quick post on me and my background would help gain an understanding of my goals and reason for starting this platform.

From a young age I have felt the urge to be outdoors, I grew up in Scotland where I currently reside. The Environment and scenery of Scotland is in my opinion nothing short of beautiful, unfortunately human pressures are continuing to grow through time putting these environments and habitats at risk. Mountain biking, snowboarding and hillwalking are huge personal passions and the landscapes in which these activities take place often have negative effects on the environment. After leaving school I studied Environmental Science and began volunteering at charities to help educate people on the importance of environmental practices and how they can help improve habitats alongside improving living conditions.

After leaving university I worked for 3 years as and energy and environment manager working to help improve working standards of a large company to help environmental conditions. I then began working in the borehole industry providing private water supplies to a variety of clients. Shorty after I was offer a job working with the Scottish Environmental Protections Agency which I currently still hold. I work mainly on hydrological process and treatment over my past 4 years, however the job role is very varied giving me exposure to a huge amount of current environmental issues in Scotland. I see first hand, exploitation of our environment on a regular basis and current methods of dealing and mitigating individual cases. So due to my passion for the outdoors, finding myself in this sector of work has worked out rather well. However working in these circles has allowed me first hand to see that not enough is being done to promote environmental improvements through new technologies as much as I would like.

Over the past 5 years I have become almost obsessed with blockchain technology and the vast amount of power it has moving forward in society, especially in regards to improving environmental conditions across the planet. The lack of public knowledge and education in this sector has lead to people 'giving up'. A huge amount of my friends and family immediately accept that they are not smart enough to understand and don't even try to gain an understanding. I have become increasing frustrate with the line between blockchain 'NERDS' and people who do not have an understanding of the technologies. The fact of the matter is blockchain technology is on a macro scale a very useful technology that can be utilized to improve our planet.

Due to the distance between knowledge levels I have felt a need to help people understand that blockchain technology is good for the environment. There is increasing exposure being shown on this topic and a huge of amount of uneducated, biased media reports has lead people to think that this is not the case. I plan to post and educate as many people as possible over the coming years on subjects relating blockchain technology to environmental improvements. I hope this platform will be able to help people gain more knowledge on the subject based off of facts and valued opinions in the crypto-sphere. I also understand that we as users of these crypto assets have an obligation to try and ensure these different blockchains as seeking a sustainable future and that they will try to minimize their carbon footprint. The more awareness on this subject, the faster and more productive environmental improvements will come to fruition moving forward in to a more decentralized future.
